FLAG has announced investments in the MIST and I2SEA subsea cable systems to enhance routing options into Mumbai. The MIST cable will provide additional capacity between Mumbai and Singapore, set to be available from October 2026. The I2SEA cable, expected to be operational by 2029, will connect Machilipatnam, Chennai, and Singapore. These investments are part of FLAG's strategy to address increasing demand for resilient connectivity driven by enterprise, cloud, and AI traffic. The company aims to reduce reliance on legacy corridors, particularly in light of geopolitical tensions affecting subsea routes. FLAG's CEO Paul Abfalter emphasized the importance of these investments for long-haul connectivity in the Indo-Pacific region.
