Antti Peltari, former head of Finland's Security Intelligence Service (Supo), has been charged with breach of official duties related to a major investigation into the agency's counter-espionage activities against Russia. The case focuses on events from August to September 2020, where pensioners were allegedly involved in operations without proper oversight. Peltari is accused of making unlawful decisions regarding intelligence methods and providing false information to the court. Alongside him, former counterintelligence chief Pertti Haaksluoto and another agency employee face charges of abuse of office. All defendants deny the allegations. The investigation has raised concerns about procedural adherence within Finland's national security sector. Peltari was removed from his position as Secretary General of the Parliament of Finland in 2025 due to this inquiry.
