Iloilo City Achieves First Fully Unmanned SCADA-Ready Power Substation

MORE Electric and Power Corporation has launched Iloilo City’s first fully unmanned power substation, equipped with a supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system. This 30-megavolt-ampere facility allows for remote monitoring and operation, enhancing grid reliability and efficiency. The initiative is part of a broader modernization effort to meet rising energy demands and improve service for Iloilo's 108,381 electricity consumers. The SCADA system enables automated fault detection and rapid power restoration, significantly reducing outage times. The project follows a five-year reconstruction plan initiated in 2020 to address aging infrastructure issues inherited by MORE Power. The company aims to expand its unmanned substation rollout over the next three years, leveraging advanced technology for predictive maintenance and operational safety. Despite the remote operations, security measures are in place, including 24/7 monitoring and on-site guards.
