Ukraine's State Bureau of Investigation has seized over $8.3 million in USDT from an alleged member of a transnational hacking group, marking the first instance of such assets being managed by the state. The seized funds, equivalent to over UAH 372 million, were transferred to the Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA) for management. The hacking group is reported to have caused damages exceeding $100 million through cyberattacks on citizens and companies in Europe and the USA, involving theft of confidential information and ransom demands. Four members of the group have been detained, including its organizer, and are currently in custody. The seized crypto assets are intended to be converted into fiat currency to purchase military bonds, supporting Ukraine's economy during martial law.
