On May 19, 2026, India and Vietnam held high-level defence talks in Hanoi, led by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Vietnam's Defence Minister General Phan Van Giang. The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral defence ties, including joint military exercises, maritime security, and defence industry collaboration. Both nations emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region. They also explored joint production of military hardware, with Vietnam expressing interest in procuring BrahMos missile systems. Additionally, an agreement on cooperation in artificial intelligence and quantum technology was signed. The meeting included the virtual inauguration of a Language Laboratory at the Air Force Officers’ College in Vietnam, established with Indian assistance.
