The Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) led a delegation of South Korean quantum deep-tech startups at the Quantum World Congress (QWC) 2026, establishing partnerships with D-Wave, Microsoft, and AIST. This initiative aims to facilitate U.S. market entry for these startups through the Global Bridge Program, which connects them with international research institutions and investors. Notably, startup OptiQ-Labs plans to open a U.S. East Coast office in November, marking a significant milestone as the first quantum startup from the Deeptech Incubator Project to establish a presence in the U.S. KIST's Director, Dr. Kang Sunjoon, emphasized the need for sustained international collaboration to ensure the commercialization of quantum technologies. The event also included discussions with Japan's Q-STAR and AIST to enhance bilateral ties in quantum technology. KIST's efforts are part of South Korea's broader strategy to boost its quantum technology sector.
