The ISO has established a working group to create global cybersecurity standards for drones, appointing Korean scholar Lee Jong-hyuk as its chair. This initiative responds to rising security concerns regarding uncrewed aircraft systems, which are increasingly integral to various industries. The working group, designated WG10, will draft the first baseline security document, ISO/AWI 26390, aimed at addressing vulnerabilities such as video feed interception and GPS spoofing. Korea has been proactive in advocating for standardized protocols since 2025, with experts leading multiple drone-related standards. The upcoming plenary session in Seoul will further discussions on cybersecurity in aviation. This development positions Korea as a key player in setting international technology standards.
