A group of 40 Democratic lawmakers has warned 19 Democratic governors that their states are unintentionally providing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) access to residents' driver and criminal records through a law-enforcement data network. The lawmakers urged these governors to take action to prevent further data sharing, following the example of states like New York and Illinois that have opted out of such agreements.
