Matrix Networks Pte Ltd and PT NAP Info Lintas Nusa have successfully activated Ciena’s GeoMesh Extreme technology on the Matrix Cable System, enhancing submarine connectivity between Batam and Jakarta. This upgrade allows for 1 Tb/s per wavelength across the 1,055 km link, significantly boosting capacity to meet growing demands for cloud and AI services. The cable system now has a lit capacity of 6.2 Tbps and a maximum design capacity of 32 Tbps. The deployment positions Indonesia as a key connectivity hub in the Asia-Pacific region. The cable is designed with armoured protection to ensure reliability against global threats to subsea connectivity. The upgrade was executed in partnership with Terrabit Networks and Ciena Services, marking Matrix NAP Info as a pioneer in deploying advanced coherent optical technology in Southeast Asia.
