On May 8, 2026, Naval Information Forces (NAVIFOR) held the FY25 Type Commander Sailor of the Year ceremony at the Suffolk Federal Complex. This event recognized the Navy's top Information Warfare (IW) Sailors, specifically First-Class Petty Officers, for their exceptional performance and leadership. The finalists were evaluated on criteria such as operational impact and technical expertise. Cryptologic Technician - Collection 1st Class Teresha Baker was awarded the 2025 NAVIFOR Sea Sailor of the Year. The ceremony highlighted the critical roles these sailors play in ensuring operational readiness and decision advantage in cyberspace. Other finalists included Yeoman 1st Class Tailor Hayes and Intelligence Specialist 1st Class Andrew Picard among others. Vice Adm. Mike Vernazza emphasized the importance of these roles in the Navy's strategic mission.
