The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has introduced a 20-hour activity-based module on computational thinking (CT) and artificial intelligence (AI) for students in Classes 9 to 12. Developed in collaboration with IIT Madras and IIT Jodhpur, the module aims to educate students on AI's applications, limitations, and ethical considerations, including the detection of deepfakes and data privacy. The curriculum emphasizes critical thinking, creativity, and responsible technology use, encouraging students to engage in practical exercises rather than rote memorization. The module is designed for those with no prior knowledge of AI and includes activities that can be conducted with or without digital devices. NCERT aims to foster informed and responsible users of AI technology among students.
