A new jailbreak exploit called 'Relapse' has been discovered for PlayStation 5 consoles running firmware versions up to 13.6, allowing unauthorized access to the system. This exploit affects all PS5 systems not updated to the latest firmware version 14.00.00, released on September 16, 2026. The vulnerability leverages a known WebKit flaw to gain kernel access and can be executed in under a minute. As a result, many recent games, including Marvel’s Wolverine and The Witcher 3 Remastered, are now at risk of piracy. The exploit significantly expands the availability of exploitable PS5 hardware, which had previously been limited to older firmware versions. Sony is expected to release a patch soon to mitigate this vulnerability, but the extent of the impact on already released games remains uncertain.
