New York Governor Kathy Hochul signed legislation requiring social media platforms to display mental health warning labels for features deemed addictive, such as autoplay and infinite scrolling. This law aims to protect younger users from the negative impacts of social media on mental health, following similar actions by other states like Colorado, Minnesota, and California. The bill, known as S4505/A5346, was passed by state legislators in June 2025.
