Ooredoo and du Launch FIG Subsea Cable for Enhanced Regional Connectivity

Ooredoo Group and du have partnered to land the Fibre in the Gulf (FIG) subsea cable system in the UAE, enhancing international connectivity in the GCC. This system, the largest of its kind in the region, will provide up to 720Tbps capacity across 24 fibre pairs, addressing the growing demand from hyperscalers, cloud providers, and AI platforms. The project is spearheaded by Ooredoo Fibre Networks (OFN) and aims to improve data flows across Qatar, the UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq, and Oman. The partnership reinforces the UAE's position as a global data hub and supports the region's digital transformation agenda.
