Since the onset of the full-scale invasion, Russia has accused at least 555 Ukrainian citizens of treason, espionage, and related crimes, representing nearly 38% of all known defendants in such cases. A study by Pervy Otdel and Parubets Analytics reveals that 266 of these individuals were previously listed in Ukraine's missing persons register. As of August 8, 2026, 249 remain missing, with 90% of disappearances occurring in Russian-occupied territories. Russian courts have sentenced 402 Ukrainians, with 241 of those sentences issued in occupied regions. The most common accusations involve collecting and transmitting information to Ukrainian forces. The majority of detainees were initially arrested in Ukraine, with some also detained in Russia and Kazakhstan. The study indicates that 534 of the accused remain imprisoned, with many held in remote locations across Russia.
