Southold Town Allocates $500K for Cybersecurity After Ransomware Attack

Southold Town plans to invest $500,000 to enhance its cybersecurity following a ransomware attack that incapacitated town servers for nearly two weeks. Supervisor Al Krupski stated that the funding will come from bond money previously allocated for security projects, aiming to improve the town's systems based on lessons learned from the incident. Most systems have been restored since the attack on November 24.
