South Texas College (STC) has launched a Cybersecurity Clinic aimed at enhancing the cyber defenses of local businesses and nonprofits. Funded by a $467,000 grant from the National Science Foundation, the clinic provides hands-on cybersecurity services delivered by students under faculty supervision. The inaugural semester allowed 12 students to conduct vulnerability assessments and cybersecurity training for various local organizations. Applications for the next cohort are open until July 5, while businesses can apply year-round for free services. The initiative seeks to prepare students for the workforce while addressing the cybersecurity needs of under-resourced entities in the Rio Grande Valley. Faculty noted significant learning experiences for both students and staff during the clinic's first semester.
