In the first eight months of 2026, approximately 240,000 hacking attempts targeted the court's computer network, significantly higher than previous years. The Supreme Court's Court Administration Office reported 239,145 detected attempts, which is 2.4 times the number from the same period last year. Monthly attempts exceeded 20,000 each month, with March seeing the highest at 48,263. The total for 2025 was 141,528, and previous years showed a downward trend with annual attempts of 142,514 in 2021, 126,212 in 2022, 114,070 in 2023, and 98,171 in 2024. A previous hacking incident between June 2021 and January 2023 led to the leakage of personal information of around 18,000 individuals. Despite the increase in attempts, the court administration reportedly rejected budget proposals for enhanced security measures. The data was submitted to Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Dong-a, highlighting the urgent need for improved cybersecurity measures.
