Türkiye is set to initiate its first offshore wind Renewable Energy Resource Area (YEKA) tender, having completed permitting for four sites in Saros Bay, Gökçeada, Bozcaada, and Edremit. Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar announced the goal of achieving 5,000 MW of offshore wind capacity by 2035, with plans for at least 2 GW of YEKA tenders annually, including 1.5 GW for wind projects in 2026. The country's installed wind power capacity has increased to over 15 GW, contributing approximately 11% to electricity generation in 2025. Türkiye aims to invest around USD 30 billion in transmission infrastructure by 2035, targeting a combined capacity of 120 GW for wind and solar. The government is focusing on localization in wind turbine manufacturing, achieving over 60% localization rates.
