TechCreate Group Ltd. announced a collaboration with pQCee Pte Ltd. to develop quantum-safe QR Hybrid POS terminals using NIST-approved post-quantum cryptography (PQC) algorithms. This initiative aims to transition from current encryption standards like RSA and ECC, which are vulnerable to quantum computing threats. The collaboration addresses the 'Harvest Now, Decrypt Later' (HNDL) threat, where attackers capture and store encrypted data for future decryption. TechCreate's CEO emphasized the importance of enhancing quantum-resistant encryption for secure communication in digital payments. pQCee will provide its SafeQuard tool to defend against HNDL attacks. The project aligns with global regulatory efforts to standardize PQC and aims to enhance security for banks, merchants, and consumers. The rollout of these quantum-safe terminals is expected to be one of the first in the region.
