On September 3, 2026, TVING reported a significant data breach impacting 39.54 million accounts, prompting CEO Choi Juhee to issue a formal apology during a press briefing in Seoul. The breach has led to a compensation package for affected customers, including up to KRW 3 million for cyber fraud and additional perks like Tving points and entertainment coupons. TVING plans to quadruple its information security investment by 2030, increasing annual spending from KRW 2-3 billion to KRW 10-12 billion. The company will also implement a Zero-Trust security model and expand its security workforce from 4 to 10 members by year-end. Compensation applications will be accepted from September 7 to 30, with benefits effective from October 6. Approximately 17 million deactivated accounts will also qualify for compensation upon re-registration.
