In the final quarter of 2025, online shopping scams in the UK surged by 416% compared to the previous quarter, as reported by Gen, the parent company of Norton and Avast. This rise coincided with an increase in malicious online advertising and the emergence of deepfake scam media on major social platforms. Other scam categories also saw significant growth, with dating scams increasing by 55% and financial scams by 54%.
