Bharat Singh Chand, a sole trader from Burry Port, Carmarthenshire, has been fined £200,000 by the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) for sending 966,449 spam text messages promoting debt solutions and energy-saving grants. The messages were dispatched from 383 mobile numbers between December 3, 2023, and July 3, 2024, targeting individuals already in financial distress. Chand has appealed the ICO's decision.
