On Mother's Day, Campaign for Uyghurs (CFU) highlighted the plight of Uyghur women under Chinese oppression in East Turkistan. CFU reported severe repression, including forced sterilizations and coerced abortions, stripping women of bodily autonomy. Research by Adrian Zenz indicated that Uyghur women are threatened with detention for refusing sterilization procedures. The organization also claimed that Uyghur women are subjected to state-sanctioned marriages with Han Chinese men, with laws preventing objections. Harsh punishments are imposed for practicing their religion, with some receiving prison sentences of 10 to 14 years. CFU noted the separation of millions of Uyghur children from their parents, who are placed in state-run orphanages for cultural assimilation. CFU Executive Director Rushan Abbas emphasized the emotional toll of these policies on families. The organization urged the international community to take action against these human rights violations.
