Emirates Telecommunications Group Company PJSC (e&) announced the sale of its entire 16.21% stake in Vodafone Group PLC to Vega, an acquisition vehicle owned by the Niel family group, for $5.95 billion. This transaction follows the termination of the Relationship Agreement with Vodafone, and e&’s Board representative, Hatem Dowidar, has resigned from Vodafone's Board. The sale involves approximately 3.94 billion shares at a price of 112.5 GBp each, which includes Vodafone's final FY26 dividend. The shares will be sold through off-market block trades to financial institutions pending regulatory approvals. This divestment marks a significant shift in Vodafone's shareholder structure but does not affect its operational strategy. The transaction is expected to generate net cash returns for e& of approximately AED 4.7 billion (USD 1.3 billion).
