On April 9, 2026, two significant cybersecurity initiatives were announced in Wales and Ireland. The Cyber Innovation Hub (CIH) in Wales, led by Professor Pete Burnap, aims to enhance cybersecurity R&D and startup creation by collaborating with Cardiff University, industry, and government. CIH focuses on developing deployable solutions and training programs to address real-world threats. Meanwhile, Munster Technological University (MTU) launched Cyber Innovate, a program offering experienced professionals a chance to earn a Post-Grad Diploma in Cybersecurity Innovation. Participants in Cyber Innovate will receive a €38,000 scholarship and training to develop next-generation cybersecurity technologies. Both initiatives emphasize the importance of collaboration between academia and industry to address cybersecurity challenges.
