X-energy, a nuclear energy startup backed by Amazon, has raised $700 million in a Series D funding round to support the development of its small modular reactors (SMRs). This funding follows a previous expansion of its Series C round, bringing the total raised by the company to $1.8 billion. The new capital will help build the supply chain necessary for the production of the SMRs, which are expected to deliver over 11 gigawatts of power if constructed.
