Back Swarajyamag BRICS NSAs To Meet In India For Talks On Terrorism, Cybersecurity And Emerging Threats
India will host the BRICS National Security Advisers' Meeting on 22-23 June, the Ministry of External Affairs confirmed today (20 June).
National Security Advisor Ajit Doval will chair the two-day gathering, which brings together security chiefs from the bloc's 11 member countries: Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates.
The meeting will focus on the theme 'Non-traditional security challenges confronting the world today', with discussions centred on the rapidly evolving nature of national security threats and the role of new technologies in emerging security risks.
Delegates will also examine cybersecurity, digital vulnerabilities and artificial intelligence-driven threats.
National Security Advisers and heads of delegation will review outcomes from recently held BRICS Joint Working Groups on Counter-Terrorism and Security in the Use of Information and Communication Technologies.
The gathering takes place as India holds the BRICS Chairship for the fourth time in 2026, having previously led the grouping in 2012, 2016 and 2021.
India's chairmanship operates under the theme 'Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability', reflecting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's people-centric vision articulated at the 2025 Rio Summit.
The bloc's agenda has expanded considerably beyond its initial economic focus to encompass three core pillars: political and security cooperation, economic and financial partnership, and people-to-people exchanges.
