Revolut says customers' money and data are safe amid service disruption

Irishexaminer • October 20, 2026

Revolut has reported a service disruption that may leave some of its services inaccessible to customers.

The online bank, which has around 3.4 million customers in Ireland, said its engineering team was working to restore full service as quickly as possible.

Revolut has confirmed a service disruption affecting multiple services but said customers’ money and data remain safe.

“We are currently experiencing a service disruption affecting multiple services. We can confirm that all our customers’ money and data are safe. We’ve been working to fix the issue since it was identified this morning and apologise to anyone affected and for any inconvenience caused,” the company said.

We are currently experiencing a service disruption affecting multiple services. We can confirm that all our customers’ money and data are safe. We’ve been working to fix the issue since it was identified this morning and apologise to anyone affected and for any inconvenience…

The issue is understood to stem from an issue with Google Cloud Services and Revolut is not the only company impacted.

Google Cloud Services acknowledges the issue on its service health page and stats that its "engineering team continues to investigate the issue".

The disruption comes after Revolut disclosed two separate data breaches affecting customers last month.

Two data breaches in September

Revolut told some customers on September 14 that criminals had obtained personal information , including passport and driving licence copies, dates of birth and details.

The company said an “unauthorised third party” had used an email domain from a legitimate government agency to submit “fraudulent requests for information”.

While Revolut did not disclose the number affected, reports suggested around 700 customers worldwide, including approximately 12 in Ireland, had been impacted.

Later that month, Irish customers were also among those potentially affected by a breach at DriveWealth, a US broker that handles stock trades for Revolut customers.

DriveWealth said unauthorised access may have exposed customer names, details, addresses, employment information, biographical data and partial account numbers.

Revolut Bank said in September that its credit portfolio in Ireland has surpassed €1bn, as it continues to challenge the country's pillar lenders.
