Back Sammyguru Samsung's October 2026 Security Update Fixes 76 Vulnerabilities
Samsung has shared details of its October 2026 security update for Galaxy devices. The latest package addresses 76 vulnerabilities affecting core Android, Samsung components, and its own software. The update has already begun rolling out to eligible devices and will reach more models in the coming days.
Here’s what Samsung’s October 2026 security patch fixes
Samsung’s October 2026 security package includes 45 fixes from the Android Security Bulletin. These consist of 9 critical vulnerabilities, 33 high-severity flaws, and 3 moderate issues. The company has also fixed 4 high-severity vulnerabilities related to its Semiconductor components.
In addition, Samsung has addressed 27 Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVEs) affecting its own software. The company highlights some of these issues to improve customer confidence in its security.
Among the high-severity issues, several could allow local attackers to execute arbitrary code. These include out-of-bounds write flaws in libsmkvextractor.so and libsamsungtts.so, a use-after-free issue in the WSM service, and input validation problems in the HEIF image handling component.
Another issue in Locksettings could allow a local attacker with root privileges to access data from a tied profile before the device’s first unlock.
The October package also addresses several moderate-severity out-of-bounds memory flaws in media-related components. It also covers access control issues in CocktailBarService and DownloadProvider, which could expose sensitive information or files.
Meanwhile, an issue in CmcCore could let local attackers use privileged APIs without sufficient permission.
Samsung is gradually rolling out the October 2026 security update to eligible Galaxy devices. The Galaxy S26 series and Z8 foldables are among the first devices to pick up the update.
Note that the company may push the latest security patch as a standalone update or bundle it with the One UI 9 rollout. You can check for the update by going to Settings > Software update > Download and install.
