Anthropic has introduced FlashProve, an open-source system designed to provide cryptographic proof that a specific AI model generated a given output. This system aims to prevent scenarios where a model could be swapped for a cheaper or less capable one without user knowledge. FlashProve includes a prover and two verifiers, with the code available on GitHub under an Apache 2.0 license. It was tested on the Llama 4 Maverick model, which is a 400 billion parameter Mixture-of-Experts model. The system is intended to enhance trust in AI outputs by allowing users to verify claims made by AI developers. While the system is still in research and not yet deployed, it represents a significant step towards ensuring AI model integrity. The project has drawn collaboration from institutions like EPFL, MIT, and StarkWare.

Common questions

What is FlashProve?
FlashProve is an open-source system that provides cryptographic proof of which AI model generated a specific output.
How does FlashProve work?
It uses a prover and verifiers to create a cryptographic proof that can be matched to specific outputs without revealing model weights.
Is FlashProve currently in use?
No, FlashProve is still in the research phase and has not been deployed in production environments.
