Article Content
- •CISF restructuring to enhance security at critical infrastructure from November 1, 2026.
- •New sector-based command structure will improve operational oversight and coordination.
- •Dedicated commands will be established for sectors like Power, Coal, and Port Security.
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) will implement a major restructuring of its command system starting November 1, 2026. This shift will transition from a territorial supervision model to a sector-based command structure aimed at enhancing security across critical infrastructure, including power plants, coal and steel facilities, airports, and seaports. The reorganization, approved by the Ministry of Affairs, will group establishments by economic or strategic sectors, allowing for specialized oversight and improved coordination with relevant ministries and facility managements. The new structure will include dedicated commands for sectors such as Power, Coal, Steel, Petroleum and Natural Gas, and Port Security. This change is a response to the distinct operational processes and security vulnerabilities present in different sectors. The CISF, which has around 270,000 personnel, aims to standardize security practices and develop sector-specific expertise through this restructuring.
