Data centers are increasingly recognized as critical infrastructure due to their role in supporting AI technologies, according to Rep. Jim Himes of the House Intelligence Committee. The importance of these facilities has been underscored by recent global conflicts that have targeted data centers, such as drone strikes on AWS facilities in the UAE. While 29% of organizations are moving AI workloads to private environments, only 35% feel secure in their current data center security measures. The Check Point Cloud Security Report indicates that 76% of organizations view perimeter security as critical for AI workloads, yet many lack the necessary capabilities to secure them. As AI workloads generate significant east-west traffic, traditional security measures may not suffice, necessitating a shift in security strategies to protect data centers effectively.
