Launch of Synthetic Insider Threat Matrix to Combat AI Risks
Article Content
Above Security has launched the Synthetic Insider Threat Matrix (SITM) to address risks from synthetic insiders, a new category of insider threats posed by AI agents. This initiative is a collaboration with Forscie, which developed the original Insider Threat Matrix (ITM). The SITM maps 166 knowledge objects related to detection and prevention techniques for synthetic insider incidents, including unauthorized data access and privilege misuse. The need for such a framework arises from the rapid increase in AI agents, projected to exceed 2.2 billion by 2030, many of which have persistent access to sensitive resources. Aviv Nahum, CEO of Above Security, emphasized the growing problem of synthetic insiders, noting that existing frameworks have not adequately addressed their behaviors. The SITM aims to provide a common terminology and structured framework for organizations to better understand and mitigate these risks.
