Changpeng Zhao (CZ), co-founder of Binance, has issued a warning about a phishing scam that utilizes a counterfeit Trust Wallet website to deceive users into connecting their wallets. The fraudulent site alters the domain name by replacing 'u' with 'a' and changing the extension from '.com' to '.cam', potentially misleading users. This malicious site aims to extract wallet balances by employing JavaScript code that communicates with a backend API. The phishing scheme has been linked to a recent surge in attacks, with cybersecurity firm Bitdefender reporting that scammers are exploiting a recent Binance security breach to send fake emails to Trust Wallet users. These emails falsely claim that users' wallets are compromised, urging them to complete a verification process by November 7 to avoid suspension. The phishing campaign has reportedly affected users across multiple countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Ireland, and South Africa. Earlier this year, similar phishing attempts targeting Trust Wallet users were identified, including the use of malicious QR codes on Telegram.
