The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) will not investigate VIQ Solutions for a potential breach of Australian Privacy Principle 11, despite concerns over unauthorized access to sensitive court audio recordings. Between September 2025 and February 2026, five employees from e24 Technologies in India accessed audio from 93 court matters. An independent review found that the audio snippets were shorter than previously reported, but the OAIC concluded that the incident was smaller than media reports suggested. VIQ Solutions, which ceased operations in Australia in July 2026, was found to have inadvertently allowed access to these recordings due to a subcontracting arrangement. The OAIC stated that further investigation was unwarranted due to the company's liquidation and the low risk of harm assessed by the courts. No affected litigants were informed of the incident.
