In response to a surge in government official impersonation scams, Singapore has removed contact details of most public officers from its online directory, effective July 1, 2026. The Singapore Government Directory (SGDI) now primarily lists information for political office holders, judicial appointees, and senior management. This change aims to enhance the security of public officers' information amid a reported 123.6% increase in impersonation scams from 2024 to 2025, with cases rising from 1,504 to 3,363. Victims lost a total of S$242.9 million to these scams in 2025, marking a 60% increase from the previous year. The Ministry of Digital Development and Information emphasized the need for clearer feedback channels for the public while streamlining the directory.
