Ransomware Attacks Target Dental Organizations, Exposing Sensitive Data

Two separate ransomware incidents have impacted dental organizations in the U.S. The Qilin ransomware gang claims to have breached 1-800-Dentist, threatening to leak sensitive health data of millions unless a ransom is paid. Although 1-800-Dentist has not confirmed the breach, the potential exposure includes personally identifiable information (PII) from millions of consumers and dental practices. Meanwhile, Park Dental Research disclosed a data breach from April 29, 2026, attributed to the Interlock ransomware group, which compromised 260 GB of sensitive data, including Social Security numbers and financial documents. Park Dental began notifying affected individuals on June 24, 2026, and is offering identity theft protection services.
